IPL 2025 Auction New Rules

The bidding process is expected to be intense, especially for marquee players. Notably, the highest reserve price is set at INR 2 crore, with a significant number of players falling into various price brackets.

The auction’s structure allows franchises to exercise Right to Match (RTM) cards strategically, which adds another layer of complexity to the bidding process.

The BCCI has introduced new guidelines regarding RTM bids, allowing teams to raise their bids by any amount rather than being restricted to rounded figures. This rule aims to enhance competitive bidding among franchises.

IPL 2025 Marquee Players List

The marquee players are divided into two sets:

  • Set 1: Rishabh Pant, Shreyas Iyer, Arshdeep Singh, Kagiso Rabada, Mitchell Starc, Jos Buttler
  • Set 2: KL Rahul, Yuzvendra Chahal, Mohammed Shami, Mohammed Siraj, Liam Livingstone, David Miller

Following the marquee sets, the auction will proceed with capped batters and then all-rounders and wicketkeepers before taking a break.

Anticipated Outcomes

With top Indian stars in play and the potential for record-breaking bids—especially with Rishabh Pant expected to challenge the current highest bid of INR 24.75 crore—Day 1 promises to be an exciting spectacle.

Franchises have released numerous players in preparation for this mega auction; a total of 574 players were released, creating a competitive environment for teams looking to strengthen their rosters.
