IPL Points Table 2023: Mumbai Indians Climb Up, Latest Orange Cap, Purple Cap List

Mumbai Indians made a stunning comeback in the Indian Premier League (IPL) after a resounding victory over Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the 54th match of the tournament. 

Mumbai Indians who were struggling to find their footing earlier in the tournament, put up a brilliant performance to jump five places in the points table. Led by Suryakumar Yadav’s scintillating knock of 83 off just 35 balls, MI chased down a mammoth target of 200 runs in just 16.3 overs, displaying their champion’s performance.

The victory has put Mumbai Indians in the third spot in the points table, behind only Chennai Super Kings and Gujarat Titans. However, they still need to win two of their remaining three matches to secure their place in the playoffs. 

With their confidence soaring high after the emphatic win, Mumbai will be looking to continue their winning momentum and make a strong push towards IPL 2023 title.

As the tournament reaches its business end, the race for the playoffs has become more intense, with each match holding great significance for the teams. With just a few matches left, it will be interesting to see which teams will make it to the playoffs and compete for the coveted IPL trophy.

IPL 2023 Points Table – Updated 

Their win has brought MI up to the third position with 12 points, behind the Gujarat Titans and Chennai Super Kings who are in the first and second spots with 16 and 13 points, respectively. 

On the other hand, Bangalore has been struggling in their recent games and has slipped to the seventh position with only 10 points, making their chances of qualifying for the playoffs slim.

Lucknow Super Giants, with 11 points, have taken up the fourth position on the table, while Rajasthan Royals, Kolkata Knight Riders, Royal Challengers Bangalore, and Punjab Kings are trailing with 10 points each. 

The bottom two positions are occupied by Sunrisers Hyderabad and Delhi Capitals with 8 points each.

IPL 2023 Orange Cap

Faf Du Plessis has been in exceptional form in the ongoing IPL season, and his impressive batting display on Tuesday has taken him to the top of the Orange Cap list. The RCB skipper has scored a total of 576 runs so far and looks to continue his fine form in the remaining matches.

While there haven’t been any major changes in the list, Yashasvi Jaiswal and Shubman Gill continue to remain in the second and third positions with 477 and 469 runs respectively. 

CSK’s Devon Conway is holding the fourth position with 458 runs, and RCB star batter Virat Kohli follows him closely with 420 runs to his name.

IPL 2023 Purple Cap

Mohammed Shami of the Gujarat Titans, a pacer who has so far claimed 19 wickets in the competition, is still wearing the purple cap. 

With 19 wickets each and respective economy rates of 8.09 and 10.33, Rashid Khan and Tushar Deshpande hold down the second and third in the standings. 

With 17 wickets each, Piyush Chawla and Varun Chakaravarthy are fourth and fifth on the list with respective economies of 7.46 and 7.84.
