This alert follows reports of a Hyderabad-based individual with alleged links to betting syndicates attempting to engage with players, coaches, and support staff.
BCCI’s Advisory to IPL Stakeholders
In a communication to franchise owners, players, coaching personnel, and commentators, the BCCI’s Anti-Corruption and Security Unit (ACSU) highlighted attempts by a businessman, reportedly from Hyderabad, to establish contact with team members.
The individual is suspected of offering expensive gifts and jewelry, posing as a fan, and even approaching family members of players and coaches through social media platforms.
The BCCI has urged all associated parties to remain vigilant and report any suspicious approaches immediately. The ACSU emphasized that the individual has a history of involvement in corrupt activities and may attempt to lure individuals into compromising situations.
Preventive Measures and Protocols
To mitigate risks, the BCCI has reinforced its anti-corruption protocols for IPL 2025, including:
- Restricted Access: Limiting access to players and support staff, especially in team hotels and practice sessions.
- Mandatory Reporting: Requiring immediate reporting of any unsolicited approaches or offers.
