Nitish Kumar Reddy fit for IPL 2025

Nitish Kumar Reddy, a talented all-rounder, has successfully passed his fitness test.

This is great news for Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), the team he plays for in the Indian Premier League (IPL).

Reddy’s return to full fitness means he can now play in the IPL 2025 season, which starts soon.

Background and Injury

Nitish Kumar Reddy suffered a side strain during India’s T20I series against England in January 2025.

This injury forced him out of the remainder of the series and led to a prolonged rehabilitation period.

Despite initial forecasts suggesting a three-week recovery, Reddy’s rehab took longer than expected, with the BCCI medical team handling his recovery with caution.

The extended recovery period was a precautionary measure to ensure that Reddy returned to full fitness without risking further injury.

Fitness Test Clearance

Reddy cleared the crucial yo-yo test at the BCCI’s Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru, scoring an impressive 18, surpassing the pass mark of 16.5.

This milestone marked the final hurdle in his recovery process, confirming his readiness for competitive cricket. The yo-yo test is a rigorous assessment of endurance and agility, and Reddy’s performance indicates that he is back to his peak physical condition.

In addition to the yo-yo test, Reddy participated in a practice match on Friday, where he bowled without any discomfort, further solidifying his fitness status.

This practice match was a crucial step in his rehabilitation, as it allowed him to simulate match conditions and test his body under competitive pressure.

Impact on SRH

Nitish Kumar Reddy’s return significantly enhances SRH’s batting depth and all-round capabilities.

His impressive performance in IPL 2024, where he scored 303 runs in 13 matches with a strike rate of 142.92, was instrumental in SRH reaching the final.

His addition to the squad for IPL 2025 is expected to bolster their title prospects, as he brings a unique combination of batting prowess and bowling skills.

SRH begins their IPL 2025 campaign on March 23 against Rajasthan Royals at home. Reddy is set to join the SRH squad at their pre-tournament camp starting on Sunday.
