Hardik Pandya’s fans will be disheartened to know that BCCI has put forward one big condition in order to participate in the IPL 2022 season. The star player is set to lead new entrants Gujarat Titans in their maiden season. But, it is still not confirmed if he will be available for the side or not due to his fitness concerns.
Hardik Pandya will play a big role in Team India’s quest to lift the upcoming T20 World Cup that is slated to be played in Australia in mid-October. This is one big reason why he took a long break from cricket post-T20 World Cup 2021 in order to attain full match fitness.
Hardik Pandya to prove his fitness to play in IPL 2022
The star player played as a pure middle-order batsman for India during the mega-event. But, he failed to perform as per the expectations of the fans. But, now the Indian all-rounder is set to mark his comeback in professional cricket with a bang. However, he needs to prove his match fitness before BCCI officials.
In a recent interaction, a BCCI official said that Hardik Pandya will be at National Cricket Academy to prove his fitness. He added that the player didn’t play a single game since T20 World Cup and BCCI wants to check if he is fully fit for the matches or not.
“Hardik will be at the NCA for the next two days and appear in the various fitness tests. He is a centrally contracted cricketer and has not played any cricket since T20 World Cup in UAE,” a BCCI source told PTI on conditions of anonymity.
“He would need to pass the fitness test as it has been mandatory for some time now. Last year, even Shreyas Iyer appeared for a fitness test post shoulder surgery before playing IPL,” he added.
