Shreyas Iyer praised Pat Cummins for playing a swift knock of 56 runs off 15 balls against Mumbai Indians. The KKR skipper revealed a strange fact that Cummins was getting bowled very frequently during the practice sessions ahead of the Mumbai Indians game. And, the way he batted in the match was simply surprising for him as a player.
Kolkata Knight Riders registered an enthralling victory over Mumbai Indians riding on the back of Venkateshwar Iyer and Pat Cummins. The blues managed 161 runs in stipulated 20 overs. Sukumar Yadav scored a quick fifty and Tilak Varma also contributed well with the bat. He smashed 38 runs off 27 balls and Suryakumar Yadav scored 52 with the bat.

At one moment, MI looked in a comfortable position to win the game after Tymal Mills took the important wicket of Andre Russell. But, Pat Cummins had some other plans as he smoked 56 runs off 15 balls equalling the record of the fastest fifty in the history of the Indian Premier League.
Post-match, Shreyas Iyer, the KKR skipper said that Pat Cummins batted in an extraordinary fashion against Mumbai Indians. He revealed a strange fact that Pat Cummins was easily getting out in the nets.
“Extraordinary! I couldn’t believe the way he (Cummins) was striking the ball. Because yesterday when I saw him batting in the nets, he was getting bowled every now and then. I was batting in the nets beside him then,”
KKR skipper asserted that Venkateshwar Iyer’s fifty was very crucial and the team wanted him to bat till the end. Meanwhile, everyone wanted Cummins to strike in the best possible way.
“During the timeout, the plan was for Venky to drop anchor and tell Pat to just swing at everything because that’s what he was doing before too,” he said about Venkatesh Iyer.
“When I went in to bat, I told him to just time the ball because he was overhitting the ball a bit. We have to take responsibility as top-order batters. All of us have the ability to hit the ball long. In the powerplay in both innings, the pitch was quite the same. After the powerplay, it got a lot easier I guess,” he added.
