Sanju Samson Is Wasting Good Form For International Return – Ian Bishop

Date:

Sanju Samson has made his reputation of a destructive batsman in the white-ball cricket. He has done a great job over the years playing for Rajasthan Royals in IPL. Although, he is a big name in the cash-rich league. But, still, he hasn’t managed to book his regular place in Team India. Now, former West Indies cricketer Ian Bishop has said that Samson is a brilliant batsman. But, his shot selection has been very poor.

Sanju Samson is currently leading Rajasthan Royals in the ongoing Indian Premier League. He has smashed 138 runs in 8 games at a good strike rate. He has got good starts with the willow. But, he has failed to convert them into big scores.

Sanju Samson’s Short Selection Is Poor But Not Batting Form

The youngster looks way more comfortable plying his strokes against spinners and pacers. But, his short selection has been really poor due to which he has been facing a bit of criticism from the sidelines.

Recently, former West Indies cricketer Ian Bishop reacted to Samson’s poor short selection. He said that Sanju Samson is wasting his talent because of his out-of-the-box approach against bowlers.

“Sanju is wasting good form and good opportunity to score runs to press for an international recall. To lead his team when Jos Buttler doesn’t score,” Bishop told ESPNcricinfo.

Ian Bishop asserted that Sanju Samson is not out of form and he is hitting the ball very nicely. But, it is his poor stroke selection that has cost him badly.

“It’s not that Sanju is out of form but that it is a match-up when Wanindu Hasaranga came against. He should have known that. He got out of the box quite nicely so I just think I am Sanju Samson fan, been that for years now. He is wasting good form by shot selection,” he added.
