Mumbai Indians might miss out on the services of their batting mainstay Suryakumar Yadav, who is yet to be released by NCA. The right-handed batsman sustained a thumb injury during the final T20I between India and West Indies. And, he soon went to NCA to start his rehabilitation.
Mumbai Indians to search for Suryakumar Yadav’s replacement for DC game
This comes as bad news for the five-time IPL winner Mumbai Indians and their fans. Suryakumar Yadav is an integral part of former champions and he was one of the four players retained by the Mumbai-based franchise. He was bought by MI back in 2019 from the auction pool. Since then he has emerged as one of their main middle-order batsmen.
His brilliant performance with the bat helped him in getting a call-up from the national squad. So far, he has smashed 2341 runs in 100 innings with a good strike rate of 135.71. Even, he finished as the second leading run-scorer from Mumbai Indians in the previous season with 317 runs.
There is doubt over the fact that Yadav’s absence will leave a big gap in Mumbai Indians’ batting line-up. And, former champions will have to go for some other talented batsman in the opening game against Delhi Capitals that is slated to be played on 27th March at Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai.
