In IPL 2020, CSK for the first time failed in qualifying for the playoffs. They finished the tournament with 6 wins in their 14 games. Many cricket pundits thought it is going to be the same story this season as well. But, MS Dhoni proved everyone wrong as CSK managed to win five games on trot after losing their tournament opener.
Parthiv Patel Lavishes Praise On MS Dhoni’s Brilliance In IPL 2021 As A Skipper
In an interview, Parthiv Patel said that CSK one of his top four teams going into the season. As per him, the way MS Dhoni handled Chennai Super Kings this season was simply commendable.
“I had no doubts about it. CSK was in my top four even before the tournament started. But I thought the way MS Dhoni handled the team, it was remarkable. When you have to make a comeback, you need a strong captain,” Patel said as quoted by Hindustan Times.
The former Indian wicketkeeper was impressed with the strategy of CSK. They sent Moeen Ali to number three where Suresh Raina used to play. In the end, MS Dhoni preferred other batsmen to play at number 4 and 5, who were hitting the ball better than him.
“Everyone thought Suresh Raina will bat at No.3 but it was Moeen Ali. He knew what changes he needed to do. Everyone was thinking that MS Dhoni will come and bat at No.4 or No.5. He took a backseat, he knew that there are guys who are batting well and they should get more number of overs,” he added further.
