MS Dhoni Injury concern

At the MA Chidambaram Stadium on Wednesday, Rajasthan Royals (RR) defeated Chennai Super Kings (CSK) by three runs in a thrilling last-over IPL 2023 match. Sandeep Sharma just about held off CSK in the final over, allowing RR to win by three runs.

The fact that former Australian batter Matthew Hayden mentioned an injury concern for CSK after the loss and spotted Dhoni limping is what is worrying fans. Dhoni’s fitness could be a problem for the four-time IPL champions, despite the ex-CSK legend’s claim that he wasn’t attempting to make things worse.

Saw Dhoni limping quite heavily

Following the team’s match against Rajasthan Royals on Wednesday, April 12, at the MS Chidambaram Stadium, former Australian batter Matthew Hayden expressed concern for Chennai Super Kings captain MS Dhoni’s condition.

“We will not give fans the false expectations that nothing’s wrong. There is definitely something wrong with MS Dhoni. His running between the wickets is usually quite electric, which was not there today. As the innings progressed on, we saw him limping quite heavily. There are some question marks, that I am sure that MS Dhoni will have to answer and the medical staff will get straight into it. He will want to keep playing in the tournament,” Hayden said after the game.

Dhoni turned the game to last over thriller

When Dhoni entered the game, the Chennai Super Kings were in serious trouble after losing their top order due to some outstanding bowling from Ravichandran Ashwin, who won Player of the Match for his all-around performance.

The CSK captain turned back time, scored 32 runs in only 17 balls, and nearly led his team to win before Sandeep Sharma maintained his composure in the final over.

The RR players maintained calm to win by just 3 runs! Despite their best efforts, Dhoni and Jadeja were unable to give CSK a win out of a fairytale. Gaikwad was out quickly, but Conway and Rahane put together a 50-run stand to keep the scoreboard going. However, the spinners were gaining grip and turning as anticipated, and they controlled the run rate.

On this track, fighting against spin was inevitable, and Chahal and Ashwin were up to the challenge. They got 4 wickets and only allowed 52 runs in their combined 8 overs.

With respect to the RR victory from yesterday, the group has now topped the standings after winning three of their last four games. They have six points altogether. With two victories, two losses, and a total of four points, CSK sits in fifth place.
