‘Waiting for fitness update on Ruturaj and Deepak,’ says CSK CEO Kashi Vishwanathan

Chennai Super Kings have suffered a big setback ahead of the IPL 2022. There previous season’s star players Rituraj Gaikwad and Deepak Chahar are not confirmed if they will get fit ahead of the 2022 season or not.

Rituraj Gaikwad and Deepak Chahar sustained injuries during the white-ball series between India and West Indies. The Indian batsman injured his hand whereas the pacer sustained an injury in his hamstring.

Deepak Chahar and Rituraj Gaikwad at NCA says CSK CEO

IPL Records Deepak Chahar (CSK) was the highest Indian wicket taker with 22 wickets to his name.

The bowler is stipulated to stay away from the game for almost six to eight weeks. And, this means Deepak Chahar, who was bought by CSK at a whopping fee of INR 14 Cr will miss at least the first phase of the cash-rich league.

In recent conduct, CSK CEO Kashi Vishwanathan said that they are not aware about the situation of Rituraj Gaikwad and Deepak Chahar as they are currently at NCA. He added that BCCI will soon give them an update by when their star player will attain full match fitness ahead of the IPL 2022.  

“We are not aware of their current fitness status and won’t be able to tell you when they would join the squad.

“Obviously, the BCCI has told us that once they are match-fit, they would intimate us. They are at the NCA currently.”

Deepak Chahar and Rituraj Gaikwad are the two important players of the Chennai Super Kings. They were expected to repeat their previous season’s success once again in the upcoming edition. The CSK opener slammed 635 runs in just 16 games with the help of seven fifties and a century. On the other hand, Deepak Chahar took 14 wickets in 15 matches for the defending champions in IPL 2021 season.

CSK contingent has kick-started their training session in Surat at Lalabhai Contractor Stadium mostly used for the Indian women’s team.
