Punjab Kings have once again found themselves struggling in the Indian Premier League 2021. They suffered their second defeat of the tournament against Delhi Capitals by a margin of six wickets. This time the former Indian cricketers Aakash Chopra has blamed KL Rahul’s slow batting approach being one of the reasons behind PBKS’s defeat.
DC won the toss and elected to field first. PBKS got off to a mesmerizing start to their game, KL Rahul and Mayank Agarwal stitched a quickfire partnership of 122 runs. After the departure of Mayank Agarwal, none of the players managed to put their feet on the accelerator. KL Rahul looked way slow and played safely till his fifty. However, the moment he tried to go all-guns-blazing he was dismissed by the DC bowler.
Aakash Chopra Feels KL Rahul Should Have Batted On A Higher Pace
Now, Aakash Chopra has said that KL Rahul was expected to go all-guns-blazing post-Mayank Agarwal’s departure. As per the former player, in the opening game, KL Rahul batted quickly and this was the reason why Punjab Kings managed a score of 220 plus runs on the scoreboard. Aakash Chopra feels that KL Rahul will surely regret when he will look back at his performance against Delhi Capitals.
“When Mayank Agarwal got out, KL Rahul was required to accelerate a little, something he did in the first match. He had missed out on a century, but the acceleration was there. Here also the expectation was that he would hit. He did not do that, and when he looks back, he will regret a little because the finish was not strong,” said Chopra in a video uploaded on his YouTube Channel.
“Gayle was also dismissed after that. You wanted to score 60-70 runs in the last five overs. You didn’t score those many, and because of that, you didn’t reach around 220, where you should have probably reached,” added, Aakash Chopra
