Defending champions Mumbai Indians lost their campaign opener to Royal Challengers Bangalore in IPL 2021. Rohit Sharm & Co. lost the game by 2 wickets. The match went till the final delivery but RCB had the final laugh. In the campaign opener, Quinton de Kock didn’t play for Mumbai Indians. But, Zaheer Khan has now given a big update saying that the Proteas wicketkeeper will be available for the second MI game against Kolkata Knight Riders.
Quinton de Kock recently featured in the ODI series against Pakistan. After playing the first couple of games, he left his nation for India. And, as per BCCI guidelines, he had to finish a quarantine of 7 days. This was the reason why Proteas wicketkeeper was not available in the Mumbai Indians opening game.
Zaheer Khan Gives Update On Quinton de Kock
So, defending champions Mumbai Indians picked Chris Lynn as de Kock’s replacement. The Aussie opener smashed 49 runs in his maiden IPL game. However, he ended up on the losing side. It will be interesting to watch if MI think tank will shift their focus towards Proteas player or Aussie batsman will only play in the upcoming match.
Zaheer Khan informed everyone that Quinton de Kock is out of quarantine. He added that the southpaw did some practice and training with the team. The MI bowling coach asserted that Proteas wicketkeeper is excited for IPL 2021 and will be available for the upcoming MI game.
“Quinton is out of his quarantine. He did his practice session yesterday with the team, [he’s] looking forward to the season. So yes, he’s available for tomorrow’s game,” Zaheer was quoted as saying by ESPNCricinfo.
