2. Mayank Agarwal
Before his debut in Test cricket last year on Boxing Day in Melbourne, Mayank Agarwal had achieved great runs in domestic games. For at least two years, Agarwal made staggering runs throughout formats, emerging as an obvious choice. It was unbelievable for the selectors to not choose him early on.
Karnataka’s opener got the chance finally and he made sure to exploit it well, making his debut last year at MCG. Here are the cricketer’s first three Test scores: 76, 42 and 77. Agarwal was never unnerved during the matches and displayed strong batting skills against Australia’s fierce bowling.
He carried on the same way during the Caribbean series too. 28-year-old Agarwal had been the only player to mark a half-century among the top three. His career is quite promising as a result of his hard work and potential for scoring good runs.
