2007 (Rahul Dravid did a great job)

India had a lucky escape at Lords in 2007. MS Dhoni’s late fight ensured a draw for India in that Test match which allowed the visitors to make a grand comeback in the second Test match which was played at Trent Bridge in Nottingham. Rahul Dravid marshaled his troops well for the second Test of the series.

Zaheer Khan was the one who ripped the English side apart with awesome swing bowling. Zak picked up four wickets which helped India to bundled out England for just 198 runs. Anil Kumble too played a good supporting role. He picked up three wickets to his name. India’s response with the bat was also a superior one. Dinesh Karthik and Wasim Jaffer gave India a solid foundation. Karthik scored 77 runs and Jaffer scored 62 runs.

Then the Indian legendary middle order also came good in their 1st innings. Sachin, Sourav, and Laxman batted well to take India to a good score of 481 runs. England scored 355 runs in their second innings mainly because of their skipper Michel Vaughan’s 124. But it was Zak again who troubled the England batters. Zak took a five-wicket haul in the second innings.

India needed just 70 runs to win that Test and they did it even after the early hiccups. The win at Trent Bridge also allowed India to win the Test series which was the last one in 2007. It has been a 14-year long wait for India since then, Can it end this time?.
