BBL 2022-23: Hobart Hurricanes Register First Win Of Season Against Perth Scorchers

Date:

Hobart Hurricanes bounced back to winning ways in the ongoing Big Bash League (BBL) 2022-23 as they registered a narrow 8-run victory over Perth Scorchers. Patrick Dooley’s impressive left-arm spin bowling helped the home side make their first win of the season. The youngster bagged 4 wickets and tilted the game in favour of the Hurricanes.

Batting first, Hurricanes posted a competitive total of 172 on the board as skipper Matthew Wade scored a quickfire knock of 51(29). His knock was packed with 5 fours and 2 sixes. He was the cynosure of everyone’s eyes and made sure his team posts a fighting total. Tim David too played a good knock of 46*(28) and remained unbeaten. Jhye Richardson topped the bowling charts for the Perth Scorchers as he bagged 3 wickets and conceded runs at only 6.5 per over.

The chase was a tricky one for Perth Scorchers. It was filled with ebbs and flows and they eventually fell to the trap set up by Patrick Dooley. Josh Inglis’s fighting knock of 62(37) went in vain as the home team played a top brand of cricket in front of their home crowd.

Hobart Hurricanes had lost by 38 runs in their 1st game against the Melbourne Stars in the ongoing Big Bash League 2022-23. It was a fairly good comeback from Matthew Wade’s team and they will be looking to inspire confidence and momentum from this win.

Patrick Dooley deservedly won the player of the match award after his performance with the ball. He spun a web and bamboozled the batters of Perth Scorchers. His dismissals were in the form of Faf Du Plessis, Nick Hobson, Josh Inglis and Ashton Agar. The prized wickets of Faf Du Plessis and Josh Inglis were important points in the match and helped the Hobart Hurricanes cruise to victory in their 1st home game of this season.

Hobart Hurricanes will be next playing against Sydney Sixers on 22nd December 2022. On the other hand, Perth Scorchers will be locking horns with Melbourne Stars in their next game on 23rd December 2022.
