India looked in a struggling position before Deepak Chahar exploited Sri Lankan bowlers all across the park. He played one of his career’s best knock in crucial circumstances for the Indian side. The Indian pacer smoked 69 runs off 89 balls that turned the fortune of Team India in the 2nd game of the three-match ODI series. Deepak Chaha also stitched a decent partnership with Bhuvneshwar Kumar of 83 runs for the 8th wicket.

It turned out to be a match-winning partnership for Team India and Deepak Chahar was awarded Man of the Match for his exploits. Post-match, he revealed that Rahul Dravid asked him to bat till the last ball of the game and he did the same. He also added that this was a dream wicket for his kind of batting.

The Man of the Match award winner Deepak Chahar was happy to win a game for Team India under such difficult circumstances.

“No better way to win the match for the country. Rahul sir told me to play all the balls. I’ve played a few innings with India A and I think he has belief in me. He told me he thinks I’m good enough to be a No. 7. He has belief in me. Hopefully, in the coming matches I don’t have to bat,” Chahar said at the post-match presentation ceremony.

“It was a decent score [to chase] on this wicket. Only one thing that was going on in my mind: this is the kind of innings I’ve been dreaming of. When we came under 50 is when I believed we can win. Before that, it was ball by ball. I took some risks after,” he concluded.

Deepak Chahar’s brilliance with the bat from lower down helped Team India in pulling off a heist. Now, visitors side has taken an unaccessible lead in the three-match series by 2-0. Now, they are expected to head for a clean-sweep against the Islanders by winning the final game.

Chahar’s knock also filed his contention for the T20 World Cup with his world-class knock in the 2nd ODI. And, selectors might have got a glimpse of a world-class all-rounder in the name of Deepak Chahar.
