Malinga has become the first-ever bowler to take four consecutive wickets with four balls in T20Is and ODIs. He scored the figures 4-1-6-5 as the Sri Lankan team won by consolation 37 runs in Pallekele. This was his fifth international hat-trick. With his first wicket, Malinga has become cricket’s first male bowler for the 100 T20I wickets.

Kusal Mendis led the series by scoring one more run than de Grandhomme. He was awarded 33 points, placing him at 40th. Grandhomme was unable to get a kick start last time, as he was dismissed at a golden duck by Malinga.

For bowling rankings, spin bowler Mitchell Santner is on No.5, climbing over six places and reaching the top 10. Tim Southee, who replaced Kane Williamson as captain during his absence, overcame 14 places to mark his 15th spot. He is led by Afghanistan team’s Rashid Khan.
