The Purple Cap in the IPL is awarded to the bowler who has bagged the highest number of wickets in that particular IPL season. The award essentially encompasses the character, skill, and hard work of the bowler across the entire season.

Over the years in the IPL, several bowlers have produced some stupendous performances to lay claim to the prestigious Purple Cap. Two bowlers have taken home the Purple Cap home twice and they are Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Dwayne Bravo. Both of them have been great exponents of bowling and have been priceless gems of their respective IPL teams.

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) has had bowlers who have won this award on the maximum number of occasions. A total of 4 bowlers wearing the yellow-clad jersey of CSK in IPL have won the glittering Purple Cap award.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar set the IPL stage on fire in 2016 and 2017 when he became the first bowler to win the award on consecutive occasions. He also became the first Indian to win the Purple Cap award twice.
