Ind vs Wi: Gavaskar and Bishop slam criticizers of Jasprit Bumrah’s bowling action

Date:

Jasprit Bumrah’s career is on a meteoric rise. The fast bowler has bagged up a minimum of five wickets in Australia, England, South Africa, and currently, the West Indies. He is in the exotic Caribbean Islands these days for the two-game Tests. The second match in Kingston, Jamaica at Sabina Park is ongoing; Bumrah is already armed with his outstanding hat-trick.

He stands third in the hat-trick leader board after his predecessors, Harbhajan Singh and Irfan Pathan. In the middle of his rising excellence, he has been increasingly criticized for his bowling strategies. Sunil Gavaskar and Ian Bishop have supported Bumrah, letting all negative comments fall on deaf ears.

Bishop and Gavaskar back Bumrah

Bishop is a former cricketer for West Indies and, during his commentating, expressed strong disapproval for those who criticized Bumrah. According to Mid-Day’s report, Bishop mentioned that people who are doubtful about Bumrah’s bowling are clearly unaware of the cricketing world. Bumrah’s unparalleled six wickets out of seven speak for themselves.

The former Indian player, Gavaskar, also backed him up, sayings that such people need to have their eyes examined. As Bumrah’s performance hit the screens, Gavaskar pointed out that Bumrah’s arm was completely straight with no bends.

Talking about the seam bowler’s hat-trick, Bumrah dismissed Darren Bravo first. The batsman could not handle Bumrah’s steep bounce delivery. The next ball left Shamarh Brooks with a golden duck in just his second match in Tests. The third duel struck Roston Chase’s wicket, another golden duck for the batting team. It was not an instant dismissal and needed clarification.

The umpire had spoken in the negative. Indian skipper Virat Kohli referred to the Decision Review System. The replays confirmed Chase’s dismissal and the umpire’s word was revoked. The bowler also dismissed Jason Holder, John Campbell, and Kraig Brathwaite.
