“I don’t know this, This question is out of my book,” says Jadeja on Pant not in playing XI

India will play Hong Kong at the Dubai International Stadium on Wednesday in an attempt to secure their spot in the Super Four of the Asia Cup 2022. India is coming off a victory against Pakistan.

One selection that surprised several when India played Pakistan was the exclusion of Rishabh Pant from the playing XI and the selection of Dinesh Karthik as the team’s wicketkeeper batter. Karthik was chosen over Pant, but it is expected that Pant can definitely get the chance to bat ahead of one of the top-order hitters against Hong Kong.

At a press conference, a journalist questioned Ravindra Jadeja about why Pant did not play against Pakistan, to which the India all-rounder came up with a rather quirky reply.

This question is out of my book – Watch

Veteran India all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja had an amazing reaction to Rishabh Pant’s omission from India’s playing XI against opponent Pakistan in the Asia Cup on Sunday. India chose experienced Karthik over Pant as the wicketkeeper for the important match, which irritated numerous supporters on social media.

Karthik didn’t get much of a chance to show off his skills, as he only faced one ball and scored a run off it, but he did take three crucial catches behind the stumps.

“I absolutely don’t know this. This question is out of my book,” said Jadeja.

Pant has built a name for himself in red-ball cricket, scoring a match-winning century against England in the third ODI to secure the series. Pant’s T20I statistics are a little disappointing, with 883 runs in 54 appearances at a strike rate of 126.32.
