India will renew their rivalry against Pakistan on August 28th in the Asia Cup 2022. This match will take place in Dubai at 7:30 PM on Sunday.
Both teams have enjoyed quite a few battles in the past, especially, in the Asia Cup. They’ve met in 14 matches so far and India has won 8 matches while Pakistan has defeated India in 5 matches. India has defeated Pakistan in the last two editions of the Asia Cup while Pakistan pulled off a thrilling one-wicket victory in the 2014 edition.
India’s last battle against Pakistan in the Asia Cup came during the Super Four round of the 2018 edition. Pakistan raced to 237/7 in their 50 overs, with Shoaib Malik leading from the front. Malik managed to score 78 from 90 balls, and he had the support of Sarfaraz Ahmed, who scored 44 from 66.
Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan joined hands to produce a 210-run partnership for the opening wicket, and both the openers scored a hundred as well. Shikhar Dhawan was the only wicket to fall that day. The left-handed batsman scored 114 off 100 balls. Rohit Sharma, on the other hand, remained not out on 111.
India
India is currently in sublime form in this format. The team defeated England on their home soil and then traveled to West Indies. They currently lead the five-match series 2-1. Both the series had helped the Indian team to provide ample amount of opportunities for the youngsters. Asia Cup will also act as the preparatory series for the upcoming T20 World Cup later this year.
Pakistan
Pakistan ended the Sri Lanka tour recently. Both teams battled it out in a couple of Test matches which ended in 1-1. The team will now play the Netherlands in the three-match ODI series which will start on August 16th. Pakistan is the only team to announce the squad for the Asia Cup. They had rested Hassan Ali and had opted for Naseem Shah.
