Former Indian cricketer Kapil Dev looks unimpressed with the way Sanju Samson is not justifying his talent. Currently, Team India is involved in a five-match T20I series against South Africa. They have a total of three wicketkeeper-batsmen in the squad with the likes of Dinesh Karthik, Ishan Kishan, and Rishabh Pant.
Meanwhile, there have been voices raised on why selectors are not giving a consistent run to a player like Sanju Samson on the national side. And, Kapil Dev has come up with an answer.
Kapil Dev Opines on Sanju Samson’s Consistency
Sanju Samson made his international debut back in 2015. But, since then he has played only 13 T20Is. On the other hand, Samson has performed extremely well in the domestic circuit as well as in the Indian Premier League. In the recently concluded season, he led his franchise to the final as well and scored really amazingly well with the bat.
Although, Samson is reckoned as one of the top young batsmen across the country. But, there is a big question mark over his consistency. He performs really well with the bat in a couple of games but fails to maintain the same form for a long.
Recently, Kapil Devi pointed out the same drawback in Sanju Samson as a player. The former World Cup-winning skipper said the RR skipper is really talented when it comes down to his batting and wicketkeeping. But, there is a major issue with his consistency to perform for more number of games. Kapil Dev asserted that he is really disappointed with Sanju Samson as he is not able to justify his talent in the shorter format.
Recently, after KL Rahul sustained a groin injury and a major group of people wanted Sanju Samson to replace him in the ongoing T20I series. But, no replacement has been announced yet by the Indian selectors.
