The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 auction will undoubtedly feature some of the best young cricket talents from around the world. The IPL has always been a platform for young players to showcase their skills and gain valuable experience. The IPL 2023 auction is sure to be no different, as some of the youngest players in the world will be available for selection.

The 15-year-old Allah Mohammad Ghazanfar is the youngest player to have registered for this edition of the IPL auction, and his name is one that fans are talking about in advance of the IPL 2023 auction.

Ghazanfar is an Afghan native, and Afghanistan is known for producing famous cricket players like Rashid Khan, Mohammad Nabi, Mujeeb ur Rahman, etc. Ghazanfar was in the 405 players who were shortlisted as the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) released the player list for the upcoming IPL auction.

Had Also Enrolled For The Big Bash League Auction

Allah Mohammad Ghazanfar is a 15-year-old right-arm off-spinner, who will be auctioned off in Kochi on December 23. Ghazanfar, the youngest player in the IPL auction, had also enrolled himself for the Big Bash League auction earlier this year but did not find any takers.

The Afghan teenager has registered himself in the INR 20 lakh price bracket. Although he is an off-spinner, his style of bowling is pretty similar to that of India’s Ravichandran Ashwin, who has reinvented the art of off-spin in the shortest format with his variations.

Ashwin is an inspiration

“Ashwin has been a champion spinner for India, and I like his variations. I have always considered him my inspiration,” Ghazanfar told Sportstar from Kabul on Tuesday.

“I started with tennis ball cricket and would play in my neighborhood, but under the guidance of my coach, I started bowling spin, and soon, I developed an action, and there hasn’t been any looking back since,” the youngster added.

IPL will help me improve my game

“I have played a fair bit of junior cricket, and my ultimate target is to play for Afghanistan. The IPL will help me improve my game as I would be able to learn quite a few things from the Indian and overseas players, and I am really looking forward to the experience. I hope to get picked by a franchise,” he said

“I love challenging the batters with my spin, and the experience of playing in the Shpageeza League has been immensely valuable,” Ghazanfar, who was later part of the Junior Pakistan Super League, said.

“I played a fair amount of junior cricket, and I feel that I have the talent to perform at the higher level,” he added.
