Liam Livingstone injury

Liam Livingstone, an all-rounder for England, suffered a right knee injury in Rawalpindi’s first test match against Pakistan. He will therefore not play for England in the remaining series. Livingstone will take a flight home to begin his recovery.

On day two of his debut, Livingstone hurt his knee while fielding near the boundary. He was compelled by the injury to sit out the entirety of Pakistan’s opening inning.

In the second innings, Livingstone limped between the wickets and appeared uneasy when he stepped out to bat. In England’s second innings, he batted and amassed an undefeated seven runs, although he was clearly in pain as he limped between the wickets. He scored 9 runs in England’s opening innings.

Liam set to return home

On day four (Sunday), his knee was examined, and the results painted a clear picture of the seriousness of the damage. He will now start his recovery at home on Tuesday with the help of the ECB and Lancashire medical experts.

After Liam’s declaration that he will miss the remaining games, England’s decision over Livingstone’s successor is in doubt. On this trip, the Lancashire all-arounder will be sorely missed, especially on placid terrain. He can bowl both leg break and off-break spin, in addition to being a strong offensive batter.

“England Men’s all-rounder Liam Livingstone has been ruled out of the rest of the Test series against Pakistan with a right knee injury,” England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) said in a statement.

“He will return to the UK on Tuesday and commence rehab with the ECB and Lancashire medical teams respectively.”

England had posted 657

Pakistan scored 579 runs in response to England’s 657 total, which included four centuries by batters, on a calm Pindi pitch, with three of their batters scoring in the triple digits.

With 264 for 7, England ended their second innings, setting Pakistan a 343-run goal to win the Test. On December 9 (Friday), in Multan, the second test of the ongoing three-match series will get underway.
