IPL 2022 auction is set to go underway on 12th February in Bengaluru. The mega-event will begin at 11:00 am IST with several big names like Shreyas Iyer, David Warner, Krunal Pandya set to go under the hammer. On one side, CSK, DC, RR, MI, GUT, LPS, and SRH have already named their skipper for the upcoming edition of the tournament. But, Punjab Kings, Kolkata Knight Riders, and Royal Challengers Bangalore are yet to pick their skipper for IPL 2022.
On 12th February during IPL 2022 auction their first task will be to pick their skipper and there are reports that Punjab Kings is eager to pick David Warner as their captain for IPL 2022. There have been rumors mulling around the name of Shikhar Dhawan, and Shreyas Iyer as well.
Punjab Kings to bid upfront for David Warner
But, Punjab Kings look very much ready to grab the services of the Aussie southpaw, who has won the orange cap thrice in the Indian Premier League. The left-handed batsman is one of the most destructive batsmen across the globe and he will probably set up an interesting bidding war between the buyers.
Meanwhile, Shikhar Dhawan is another name that can be on the list of Punjab Kings. During IPL 2018 auction, Punjab Kings were the frontrunners to get Shikhar Dhawan in their squad. But, SRH used their right-to-match card, and Punjab based franchise failed in getting his services. However, this time they will try to go very much upfront for the Indian opener in order get his services for IPL 2022 season.
So far Shikhar Dhawan has scored 5785 runs in 192 games with the help of 44 fifties and two tons. He will be one of the valuable names that can get a deal of more than INR 7 Crores in the mega-market of players.
