For the five positions on the selection committee, the BCCI has issued an invitation for applications. After Team India’s lacklustre showings at the ICC T20 World Cup and the Asia Cup 2022, Chetan Sharma’s team was dismissed.
PTI reports that the BCCI received more than 600 applications for the five-person screening panel, some of which were submitted using fake identifications posing as Sachin, Dhoni, Inzamam-ul-Haq, and Sehwag.
“More than 600 applications were received and some of them have come from fake ids claiming to be Sachin Tendulkar, MS Dhoni, Virender Sehwag, and Inzamam-ul-Haq. They are wasting BCCI’s time. The CAC will shortlist 10 candidates and then choose the final five. The process will be completed soon,” a BCCI source told PTI.
The Cricket Advisory Committee is likely to shortlist 10 candidates for the seats before selecting five. The new selection committee will shortly be chosen by the CAC, which consists of Sulakshna Naik, Jatin Paranjpe, and Ashok Malhotra.
Starting on January 3, the five new members will choose the sides for the home series against Sri Lanka and New Zealand.
