Ishan Kishan hogged the spotlight back with Gujarat Lions. His extremely explosive batting attracted every eyeball towards him when his name popped out of the bucked during IPL 2018 mega-auction. His name triggered a serious bidding war between RCB, MI, and CSK.

Ishan Kishan is one of the most promising and talented batsmen across India among youngsters. He has done a worthy enough job with the bat for Mumbai Indians in IPL as well as for Team India in his short stint. He has got one fifty in his five T20Is and is trying to cement his place in the middle-order of Men in Blue.

IPL 2022- MI and RCB fought for Ishan Kishan in the mega-auction

With IPL 2022 mega-auction approaching fast, Ishan Kishan’s name is once again in the limelight. So, let’s see what happened back in 2018 when his name was taken by the designated auctioneer.

The bidding war for Ishan Kishan started at his base price of INR 40 Lakh that ended at a whopping amount of INR 6.20 Crores. It all started with a tussle between CSK and MI. But, the yellow army pulled out of the race at INR 2.80 Crores. Everyone thought MI will easily pick him Ishan Kishan. But, that was not the case as RCB entered into the bidding for the southpaw.

In a few minutes, the bidding between the two IPL giants crossed the line of INR 6 Crores. However, it looked like MI was in no mood of backing down and wanted Ishan Kishan at any cost due to which RCB had to back down in the game. Finally, in IPL 2018 auction, MI secured Ishan Kishan’s services at a whopping fee of INR 6.20 Crores.

In the 2018 season, Ishan Kishan smashed 275 runs off 12 innings for MI. But, his best season came in 2020 and he finished as the leading run-scorer from MI scoring 516 runs in 14 games. He played a key role in making MI win their 5th IPL title.
