Chennai Super Kings becomes the first side to qualify for the playoffs of IPL 2021 after defeating SRH in the 44th game. The in-form duo of Faf du Plessis and Ruturaj Gaikwad once again helped their side in getting off to a blissful start and MS Dhoni finished the game in style against the orange army.
In the beginning, CSK won the toss and elected to field against Sunrisers Hyderabad. And, Josh Hazelwood struck the first wicket for the former IPL champion as he dismissed Jason Roy in the 4th over of the innings. Dwayne Bravo took the second wicket for the team and sent dangerous-looking Kane Williamson back to the pavilion.
MS Dhoni finishes game in style against SRH, CSK qualifies for the playoffs
On one side SRH was losing their wickets at regular intervals. Meanwhile, W Saha was smashing the CSK bowlers all across the park. He mustered 44 runs off 46 balls in difficult batting conditions of Sharjah Cricket Stadium. In the end, SRH managed only 134 runs in the stipulated 20 overs and Josh Hazelwood grabbed 3 wickets giving away just 24 runs.
CSK opener Ruturaj Gaikwad (45 runs) and Faf du Plessis (41 runs) helped their side in getting off to a good start. They stitched an opening partnership of 75 runs. Chennai Super Kings looked in prime position to win the game against Sunrisers Hyderabad.
In the end, the task to finish the game came on the shoulders of MS Dhoni when CSK needed 2 runs to win in 3 balls with Siddharth Kaul bowling at his best. The Chennai Super Kings skipper, who is known for finishing the game with six showcased his skill once again.
The SRH pacer bowled a full-length delivery on the middle-stump against MS Dhoni and the latter smashed it out of the park in style. And, finally, CSK managed to qualify into the playoffs in IPL 2021 with a convincing win over Sunrisers Hyderabad.
