Rohit Sharma got off to a great start as full-time skipper of India in the ODI game against West Indies. He was brilliant as a skipper as well as a batsman on his return to the national side. The right-hander smashed 10 boundaries and a six during his eventful knock of 60 runs. However, the one stroke that attracted the eyeball of West Indies skipper Kieron Pollard was his trademark pull-stroke off Alzarri Joseph.
Rohit Sharma returned to the Indian squad after recovering from his hamstring injury. He got the honor of leading Team India in their 1000th ODI. In the series opener, Rohit won the toss and elected to field first. The visitors managed a low score of 176 runs before getting dismissed.
West Indies Skipper Kieron Pollard left stunned
It looked like an easy chase for the heavy-duty batting line-up of Team India and it turned out to be one. Rohit Sharma took the crease and started smashing West Indies’ bowling attack from the word go. He played a quick knock of 60 runs off 51 balls with the help of 10 fours and a six.
The star opener looked simply remarkable during his knock at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. He played some outrageous strokes during his 60 runs knock. But, one stroke that attracted every eyeball along with that of Kieron Pollard was his pull-shot.
In the 10th over, Alzarri Joseph bowled a brilliant short delivery against Rohit Sharma and the latter picked it for a brilliant six over the fine-leg boundary. Meanwhile, Kieron Pollard was left stunned to watch such a shot from Rohit Sharma’s bat.
Coming onto the match, Indian spinners were on fire in the first ODI vs West Indies. Yuzvendra Chahal took four wickets followed by Washington Sundar, who grabbed three wickets in the game. Deepak Hooda and Suryakumar Yadav stitched a decent partnership of 60 runs and guided Men in Blue to victory by 6 wickets.
