Royal Challengers Bangalore promoted Sanjay Bangar to the position of head coach for the next two years. In 2021, Bangar worked as a batting consultant and Mike Hesson was the head coach of the team. The latter was also appointed as director of operations by RCB. However, the Bangalore-based franchise has shifted workload from Mike Hesson and permanently signed Sanjay Bangar for the next two seasons.
Under Sanjay Bangar, RCB batting performance flared and it was visible during the course of the tournament. In the Indian Premier League, batting played a crucial role in making RCB qualify for the playoffs. Glenn Maxwell, KS Bharat, Virat Kohli, and Devdutt Padikkal were on fire with the bat throughout the edition.

Sanjay Bangar closely worked with the batsmen of the team. He worked on everyone’s batting technique that helped RCB in turning the fortunes in their favor. The management was happy with Sanjay Bangar and appointed him as the Team’s Head Coach for the upcoming two seasons of the Indian Premier League.
Royal Challenger Bangalore social media took to their official handle and shared a clip in which Mike Hesson made a big announcement ahead of the much-awaited IPL 2022 mega-auction.
“Today we have appointed Sanjay Bangar as head coach of the RCB for the next two years,” Hesson said in a video posted by RCB’s official Twitter handle.
“Sanjay is highly respected as a coach, primarily known as a batting coach, he certainly has far more expertise than just that.
“Sanjay is very good at building relationships with the players and support staff, he does that through his expert knowledge, which is a key element we are looking for in terms of growing and developing our group so we are title contenders,” Hesson added.
