Lakshya Sen, the 22-year-old Indian badminton sensation, has etched his name in history by becoming the first Indian male shuttler to reach the semifinals of the Olympic men’s singles event. 

In a thrilling quarterfinal match at the Paris Olympics 2024, Sen defeated the higher-ranked Chou Tien Chen of Taiwan in three hard-fought games.

Lakshya Sen’s remarkable journey began with a sensational come-from-behind victory, as he lost the first game but bounced back to clinch the next two games and secure a spot in the semifinals. 

Lakshya Sen lost the first game 19-21 but came back strong to win the next two games 21-15, 21-12 in a thrilling match that lasted over an hour. Lakshya defeated Chou Tien Chen by 19-21, 21-15, 21-12.

With this historic win, Sen has kept India’s hopes alive for a badminton medal at the Paris 2024 Olympics as he is the lone Indian shuttler remaining in the fray.

The match, which lasted an hour and 15 minutes, showcased Sen’s grit, skill, and determination as he overcame a tough opponent. 

The Indian crowd in the packed badminton arena in Paris erupted in joy as Lakshya Sen’s historic achievement unfolded. With this win, Sen has kept India’s hopes alive for a badminton medal at the Paris Games, as he is the lone Indian shuttler remaining in the fray.

Lakshya Sen’s semifinal appearance is a testament to his hard work, dedication, and the guidance of his coaches, Prakash Padukone and Vimal Kumar, who were in his corner during the quarterfinal match. 

The young shuttler from Almora, Uttarakhand, has proven his mettle on the world stage, delivering a performance that will inspire generations of Indian badminton players.

As Lakshya inches closer to a maiden Olympic medal, the nation eagerly awaits his next match, where he will face off against the world’s best in pursuit of making history once again.

The defending Commonwealth Games champion Lakshya Sen will face the winner of the match between 2021 World Champion Loh kean Yew of Singapore and Olympic champion Viktor Axelsen of Denmark in the last four.
