Paris Olympics 2024: State-Wise Breakdown Of 117-Strong Contingent Of Team India

After 3 years, the Olympics action is back and the entire Indian nation is excited for these iconic Games. India had a record 7 medals in the Tokyo Olympics 2020 and all eyes are on the 117 Indian members, who have gone to Paris, to represent the nation.

India had logged 7 medals in the previous edition including a gold medal from Javelin thrower, Neeraj Chopra. The other medallists were Mirabai Chanu, the Indian men’s hockey team, Lovlina Borgohain, PV Sindhu, Ravi Kumar Dahiya and Bajrang Punia.

The Indian contingent has already kickstarted their Olympic sojourn in Paris and both the men’s and the women’s teams have qualified for the quarter-finals of the Archery event in Paris Olympics 2024.

India’s men contingent seeded 3rd after 25th July’s matches and the women’s team seeded 4th and both these teams have a realistic chance of winning a medal.

With a population of 1.7 billion people, there is always stiff competition among the Indians to find a berth in the Olympics. If we do a state-wise breakdown of the athletes, then we understand that Haryana has once again sent the maximum number of athletes-24. Punjab has sent 19 athletes and Tamil Nadu has sent 13.
