Ben Stokes was born into a Christian family on Jun 4, 1991, in Canterbury Christchurch, New Zealand. His family consists of his parents, and he has no immediate siblings. Stokes mother was in a relationship with Richard Dunn, with whom she had two children; a half-brother and sister to Ben. Both were murdered in New Zealand by Richard Dunn in 1988. All this took place three years before Stokes’ being born. 

Later on, the lady Deborah Stokes re-married Gerard Stokes and gave birth to Benjamin Andrew Stokes, his full name. He was their only child. Gerard Stokes was a rugby league coach and player in New Zealand, and his mother a cricket player!

Ben Stoke’s Cricket Career

Test career

It was a World of Up’& Downs for the talented Southpaw as he debuted in his first T20 against West Indies. He damaged his Locker by punching it and was dismissed from the National side gearing up for the 2016 T20 World Cup.

After this, Stokes’s performances continued to be disappointing. The climax of this came in 2016, in which Carlos Braithwaite belted him for four continuous Six’s off the last over with the Windies lifting the cup.

ODI Career

Ben made his ODI debut for the English against Ireland in 2011. Unfortunately, he sustained an injury and was an irregular till 2014. He was known as an unruly flashy player, but there was no questioning his talent. Stokes played against the West Indies in 2014, and this performance led to his selection against the Indians, in which he played only the final ODI. He was a success in this match, and after that, he was a permanent fixture in the ODI team.

Ben Stokes impressed one and all in the 2017 Champion’s trophy, and he was heralded as part of the squad  ‘ ICC World XI ‘ for 2017 and 2018.

Ben Stokes was an automatic choice for the upcoming World Cup and battled out a super over with the New Zealand team. Although controversial, Ben Stokes was given the benefit of the doubt, and England won the coveted WC for the first team; Ben Stokes was the Man of the tournament.

Stokes has continued to serve RR till the current date. However, his form has not been consistent. He provided only glimpses of the past till 2021, in which he has injured his finger and forced to stay away for the rest of the season.
