Minardi

Alonso started his career with Minardi in 2001. He stayed with the team for 1 season before moving on to Renault in the next year. With Minardi, Alonso made his debut in the 2001 Australian Open. He finished in the 23rd position with 0 points.

Renault

The Spaniard spent the next 5 years of his career with Renault. In 2002 he was just a test driver and did not get to race. In 2003, he finished 6th in the standing and improved himself in 2004 by finishing 4th.
