Bumrah’s Bowling Style –
Jasprit Bumrah shot into the limelight of the Cricketing world with his unorthodox bowling action with the continued ability to bowl Yorkers and do well during death overs. Bumrah boasts of a sling arm and an anomalous bowling action, which is equipped with a natural pace. Also, an unusual release point of the ball makes it tough for the batsman to understand and pick him up. Averagely, his balls are short and outside of the off-stump.
Jasprit Bumrah has created a niche for himself by having a weird prowess of hitting the block hole just like Lasith Malinga, his Mumbai Indians Teammate. Over the years, Jasprit has worked on emerging as the key bowler that Virat Kohli goes for wickets. Even when he is not taking wickets, his ability to contain the runs during death overs is unmatchable.
He is also among the fastest Indian bowlers with an average 142 KMPH speed, with the fastest being 153.26 KMPH – bowled during the 1st Test of Series Down Under in 2018. This way, he went past the likes of bowlers like Pat Cummins and Mitchell Starc.
“Wasim Akram, Brett Lee, and Mitchell Johnson are my all-time favorite bowlers. I always used to watch their action in videos and try and learn from them. I have learned from Malinga and Johnson as well. I always ensure to learn something from a senior bowler having played International Cricket.” That’s what Bumrah has to say about his inspiration and how he learned over the years.
