Moeen Ali’s Cricket Career
England Team
Moeen Ali made his England debut against the West Indies on 28 February 2014 in the ODI series. Following this, he also made his T20I debut on 11 March 2014 against the same opposition. His test debut came against Sri Lanka on 12 June 2014.
Ali was part of the 2014 T20 World Cup and the 2015 World Cup squads for England but the three Lions did not have a memorable showing in both competitions. He was again selected in the 2016 T20 World Cup where England reached the finals, losing out to the West Indies.
Moeen Ali’s luck would finally pay off in 2019 when he and his English teammates would finally win the World Cup in their own backyard against New Zealand.
The English all-rounder retired from Test Cricket in 2021 citing too much mental stress. He retired after picking up 195 wickets and scoring 2914 runs for England in 64 Test matches!
