Shane Watson’s Cricket Career

Australia: Shane Watson made his ODI debut in the South Africa tour as a replacement for Steve Waugh. He would start well but would miss the ICC World Cup in 2003 due to an injury. Following this, he made a return in 2004 and became a regular.

In 2004, Shane Watson also made his debut for the Australian test side against Pakistan in Sydney. His consistent performances helped him to win a place in the ICC XI in 2005.

In 2006, Watson was selected for the Champions Trophy. He would play as an opener for the side as they went on to win the title. He would carry this form helping Australia to retain the World Cup title in 2007.
