The Double R’s – Rajasthan Royals eyeing for their second title win in the 14th edition of the Indian Premier League. Their new leader Sanju Samson played well in the first match against PBKS – Punjab Kings. It was a captain’s knock, but his inconsistency hasn’t helped the team in any way.
The form of Jos Buttler hasn’t been good. The two best players from the RR camp haven’t been performing well, and that is why Rajasthan Royals are in bad shape this season. Rajasthan Royals needs a good start to their innings. RR has not got a single good opening stand in this IPL 2021 season so far, and RR is placed last on the points table. Rajasthan Royals have won just one game till now.
Buttler and Samson should open in this match against KKR – Kolkata Knight Riders. If RR seeks a solidity in their top order, then Samson should develop the order and open the innings for Rajasthan Royals. David Miller shouldn’t bat higher up the order as he did in the last game against Virat’s RCB. The number five position is ideal for Millier, who can guide the innings for Rajasthan Royals through that position. RR seeks stability and solidity at the top order, so they should go with Samson and Buttler as openers, with Momor and Miller in the three and four batting positions.
Shivam Dube’s hitting form was good for RR in the last match. He can also bat before Miller, which helps Rajasthan Royals to get that finishing knick in their innings. Chriss Morris also there at number six with the spin all-rounder like Rahul Tewatia and Riyan Parag at number seven and eight. So RR has the depth in their batting. But still, there are not getting over the line. That’s mainly because of their consistency issues.
The bowling needs more attention for Rajasthan Royals after their loss against RCB by ten wickets. The RCB openers completely hammered morris, Unadkat, Tewatia, Shreyas Gopal, Chetan Sakariya and Mustafizzur Rahman.
Rajasthan Royals needs to bring Andrew Tye, an accurate bowler than Mustafizzur Rahman, and they will have to go with one change. RR also needs Mayank Markande in place of Shreyas Gopal. They also need to add Jaydev Unadtkar to their squad. Unadkat bowled well against DC. He took three wickets and scored the match-winning runs as well in that. There was no reason to drop in the last match.
Kolkata Knight Riders – KKR
Morgan also issues in batting and bowing. Their openers are in good form. But they failed to fire in the last match against CSK. The middle-order woes are still hurting them. That is mainly because Morgan, The KKR skipper, is not in good nick. Kolkata Knight Riders need him to fire after multiple failures in the IPL 2021 season.
Tripathi’s inconsistent run, too, is bothering the Kolkata Knight Riders. Tripathi had played the only brilliant knock that came against SRH in their first match. The only positive thing which happened to KKR in their last match is that their power hitter Andre Russell’s back is in form. His 54 runs cameo will please the Kolkata Knight Riders fans. KKR will want Russell’s cameo to fire in this match, which will help their team bag the second win.
Pat Cummins played a blinder of a knock of unbeaten 66 runs. If he had any support in that last match, KKR would have snatched a victory from CSK. But his bowling has not been good. The pace bowler from Australia struggled in the last game as the CSK batters smashed him all over the park. Kolkata Knight Riders will want him to come good in this match. Otherwise, it would take another tall chase for them.
Kolkata Knight Riders need to pick Harbhajan Singh and drop Sunil Narine, which also them to add Lockie Fergusson in their playing XI. Lockie can be their fourth overseas players, and his addition might solve KKR their bowling issues.
The Indian pace trip needs to contribute with Varun Charakvarthy. Prasidh Krishna, Kamlesh Nagarkoti, and Shivam Mavi need to perform and cement their place on the KKR side. Kolkata Knight Riders need the Indian core and the overseas players to step up.
