4) Finally……The Rock has come back……….HOME.
During this time period, WWE was teasing for a couple of weeks for a host of WrestleMania 27. During this time period, The Rock was busy with his movie Fast 5. WWE at this created teases for guys like Sting to come from TNA and they even teased a female celebrity on the show where they revealed it. There was so much buzz and confusion about this new person coming to WWE as the host of the biggest show of the year in the pro wrestling industry.
The show where the host was revealed was Monday Night Raw on Valentine’s Day 2011 in Anaheim, CA. The 2-hour show was coming close to its Mani Event slot. The rest of the show was over and Ring Announcer Justin Roberts said the words “Ladies and gentle please welcome, The Host of WrestleMania XXVIII”. The lights have gone out.
The people were buzzing. Electrical sounds were going on over a minute on the PA system. The ended with the words on the PA System, “IF YA SMELLLLLL, WHAT THE ROCK…..IS COOKIN’”. The people went crazy and crazy word is underestimating the pop, to say the least. To quote Pat Patterson, “The People Went BANANAS”. Everyone was so happy to see The Brahma Bull return to WWE Programming after 7 long years. Everybody was just shocked to see The Rock as a regular feature at WrestleMania 27.
To add the charity to the top, The Rock revealed his problems with John Cena who was at the stage of getting regularly booed. He did the promo in such a way that people automatically turned towards himself and no one ever jumped on the boat of John Cena.
To look at this segment, it is one of the greatest moments in The Rock’s career because in this day and age a pop like that is almost impossible to happen and a guy who was never in anyone’s mind comes back and people love him to this day and know that is the greatest feeling in any wrestler’s mind.
