South Africa Women
South Africa Women will face off against West Indies Women in the first of the four-match series ODI in the 2022 tour. All the matches of the tour are scheduled to be played at The Wanderer Stadium in Johannesburg starting Friday, January 28.
The last time that the two sides met was in 2021 September in the Caribbean when South Africa toured West Indies to play a three-match series T20I, followed by a five-match series ODI. The T20I series had ended all square, with both sides winning a game each while one fixture was abandoned due to rain.
In the ODI series, the South African Women squad had dominated the series by a 4-1 win, while one match was a tie. While South Africa is currently second in the ICC Women’s ODI ranking while the visitors are ranked seventh.
Lizelle Lee and Laura Wolvaardt topped the overall run-chart for that series scoring 248 runs and 161 runs respectively. However, South Africa will be missing some of their key players like Lizelle Lee who is recovering from Covid-19 and is also the ICC Women’s ODI Cricket Of The Year for 2021 along with Dane Van Niekerk who has been out of action due to an ankle injury. Sune Luus will take over the captaincy for the series of four ODIs.

In the last encounter against South Africa, West Indies held their nerve to go into a Super Over and sealed the win thereon. Batting first, West Indies posted a target of 192 runs by the end of 50 overs. Rashada Williams set the platform for West Indies hammering 78 off 138. Hayley Matthews contributed 48 off 81 to amp up the total on the board.

Pitch Report
The Wanderers is a bowler-friendly track with ample swing and bounce available for the pacers. The batters need to be careful before settling on this pitch. The spinners might not find an adequate turn on the surface, but the extra bounce will come in handy for them. Both teams will look forward to chasing after winning the toss, given the bowling-friendly conditions available on this surface.

SA-W vs WI-W, 1st ODI Who will win the match, Today Match Prediction
South Africa Women is expected to win this match against West Indies Women.
South Africa has coasted to victories in recent times and we don’t really see why they cannot do the same once more in this first ODI. It was a one-sided affair when they faced the Pakistan Women earlier last season to win the series by 3-0. This was followed by a 4- 1 win against India Women and yet another 4-1 win against West Indies. Considering their dominance in the limited-overs format they are clear favorites to win this contest.
On the other hand, West Indies Women will bank upon the likes of Deandra Dottin and Rashada Williams to put up big scores on the board. They will be looking to lift themselves up and come back strongly both in the batting as well as bowling departments. But they need to be at their absolute best to get a winning start after a humiliating defeat in the last series.
Popular Betting Odds For SA-W vs WI-W, 1st ODI Today Match Prediction, Cricket Betting Tips
Top Batsman for South Africa Women- Laura Wolvaardt
Wolvaardt will be opening the batting in absence of Lizelle Lee and will be looking to provide a healthy start to the innings. The opening batsman was among the top two batters when South Africa toured West Indies in 2021. Wolvaardt’s scores in the four innings played were 36, 71*, 53, and 1. The 22-year-old has amassed 852 runs at an average of close to 46. Having played 9 matches against West Indies, Wolvaardt has hammered 296 runs at a remarkable average of 42.28 and will play a crucial role in this contest.
Top Batsman for West Indies Women- Deandra Dottin
Deandra Dottin has been one of the consistent performers for the West Indies amidst their low-scoring performances in the past. She is one of the most experienced campaigners from the West Indies ODI squad and comes along with the experience of 131 ODIs and 3293 runs against her name scored at an average of 29.40. Dottin is the highest WODI scorer for West Indies over the last year and has played 24 matches against the South-Africa Women in the past. In those games, she has amassed 467 runs at an average of 23.35.
Top Bowler for South Africa Women- Ayabonga Khaka
Ayabonga Khaka has been a cut above the others and has the most number of wickets for South Africa. She bagged six wickets in her previous outings against the West Indies with an impressive economy of 2.10. The 29-year old has picked 86 Wickets in 69 WODI matches with an economy of 4.02. She will be leading the bowling attack for South Africa and the surface here will provide her adequate bounce to bag some scalps.
Top Bowler for West Indies Women- Hayley Matthews
All-Rounder, Hayley Matthews will be a key bowler in the West Indies squad. Her off-breaks also proved to be quite effective in the last series against South Africa where she bagged two scalps and amassed 71 runs in 5 matches. Matthews has picked 63 Wickets and mustered 1426 runs in 57 WODI with an economy of 3.96. She is a safe pick here considering the poor form of the other bowlers in the current playing squad which we have already witnessed in the last series against the Proteas.
