ISL 2022/23: 3 foreigners to look forward to in this ISL


The Indian Super league (ISL) has grown exponentially over the past few years and is a major heavyweight in the list of football leagues around the globe. It is the fourth most popular league in the world in terms of fan interactions on Instagram and attracts players and fans globally. The lucrative football league is a launching pad for not only the youngsters of India but also the foreigners around the globe who come and play in this league. Overseas players have contributed heavily to the overall development of the league. In this article, we stress on 3 foreigners who can play a pivotal role to their respective club’s chances:

3. Greg Stewart

Scottish forward Greg Stewart is an attacking midfielder and forward who has played for several high-profile clubs in the past. He was recently signed by Mumbai City FC and is a potent weapon in the ranks of the Mumbai side. He previously represented Jamshedpur FC in the 2021-22 season of ISL and scored 10 goals in 19 matches. The 32-year-old striker had scored a hat-trick against Odisha FC which the team won 4-0. For his stupendous performances in the league, Stewart was named as “Hero of the League”.

2. Roy Krishna

Fijian striker Roy Krishna is a household name in the ISL. For the past 3 years he has been representing ATK Mohun Bagan (represented ATK in 2018-19) and was a major force in their team. His surpassing skill and power needs no introduction at all and the 34-year-old striker netted 15 goals in 22 appearances in 2019-20. Then for the next 2 years, he plied his trade for ATK Mohun Bagan. He scored 21 goals in 39 matches for them. Krishna will now play for Bengaluru FC after the club signed him on a 2-year contract.

1. Bartholomew Ogbeche

An undisputed monarch of football in ISL, all eyes will be on Bartholomew Ogbeche in this year’s ISL. The Nigerian footballer bagged the “Golden Boot” award last season for his stunning performances. He scored 18 goals in 20 matches and was one of the major reasons why Hyderabad FC lifted their maiden title. He will be again representing the Hyderabad franchise in this year’s ISL. We expect him to conjure magic with his boots again.
