From Javelin to Swimming to Football, the entire world was tied by a ribbon during the Olympics and there were no differences that were in action during the Olympics.

India finished in the 71st position in the Olympic Medals Table at Paris Olympics 2024 with 6 medals under their belt. This included 5 bronze medals and 1 silver medal. The torchbearer of Indian Athletics, Neeraj Chopra, once again weaved magic on the field as he bagged the silver medal with a throw of 89.45 metres.

Across the world, there were several athletes who performed exceptionally well and bagged several medals in a single edition of the Olympics.

1. Leon Marchand (France)

In the sport of swimming, Leon Marchand set the stage on fire at the Paris Olympics 2024 as he bagged 4 gold medals and 1 bronze medal. He was the joint-most successful athlete at the Olympics in this edition and many were drawing comparisons between the 22-year-old and the legendary former USA swimmer, Michael Phelps.

Marchand bagged the gold medals in the Men’s 200m Breaststroke, Men’s 200m Butterfly, Men’s 200m Individual Medley and the Men’s 400m Individual Medley. He won the bronze medal in the Men’s 4x100m Medley Relay.

2. Zhang Yufei (China)

Another athlete who hogged the limelight in swimming was Zhang Yufei from China. He became the most successful athlete in terms of total medals won as she won 6 medals which included 5 bronze medals and 1 silver medal.

She won the silver medal in the Mixed 4x100m Medley relay, the bronze medal in Women’s 100m Butterfly, Women’s 200m Butterfly, Women’s 4x100m Freestyle Relay, Women’s 4x100m Medley Relay and the Women’s 50m Freestyle.

3. Manu Bhaker (India)

The poster girl of India in the Paris Olympics 2024, Manu Bhaker was the silver lining in India’s underwhelming campaign in this edition. She bagged 2 individual bronze medals in shooting and helped India break the shooting jinx since 2012 London Olympics.

Bhaker won the bronze medal in the 10m Women’s Air Pistol event and in the 10m Mixed Air Pistol event and made the entire nation of 1.5 billion, extremely proud. The 22-year-old was India’s flag-bearer at the closing ceremony of the Paris Olympics alongside the veteran goalkeeper of the Indian Men’s Hockey Team, PR Sreejesh.
