Survivor Series 2022 is with each day, looking more and more promising. This weekend, the intense feud between WWE United States Champion Seth “Freakin” Rollins, Bobby Lashley, and Austin Theory will be put to rest. On this week’s Monday Night Raw, it was revealed that Rollins would defend his championship against Lashley and Theory in a Triple Threat match at the Survivor Series premium live event on Saturday.
History of Feud
On the Raw episode which aired on October 10, Rollins defeated Lashley to win the US championship. This was after Lashley was attacked by Brock Lesnar prior to the bout. Lashley’s run as champion ended after 100 days.
After losing to Lesnar at the Crown Jewel premium live event in Saudi Arabia, Lashley refocused his efforts on recovering his title belt. He responded to Rollins’ open challenge by attacking him before the bout even began. The theory was at the time carrying the Money in the Bank briefcase. He chose to cash in Rollins’ contract in order to take advantage of his position. However, he was struck by Lashley, allowing Rollins to retain his championship. The Money in the Bank contract was utilized on a mid-card championship for the first time in WWE history. It was the third time a cash-in failed.
Survivor Series WarGames
Survivor Series this year has been renamed to Survivor Series WarGames. This will be the first time that the WarGames model is added to Survivor Series, another one of Triple H’s out-of-the-box ideas. Men’s and women’s WarGames fights will feature in Survivor Series. The Bloodline will face The Brawling Brutes, Drew McIntyre, and Kevin Owens in the men’s division. Damage Control, Nikki Cross, and Rhea Ripley will compete against Bianca Belair, Asuka, Alexa Bliss, Mia Yim, and an unnamed final participant in the women’s WarGames match.
