AUS vs WI: Mitchell Starc Reveals Why Mitchell Marsh Does Not Have A Number On His Jersey

Date:

Mitchell Starc has been a force to reckon with in the bowling department of Australia across all formats. Be it in Tests, ODIs or T20Is, Starc has been one of the most intimidating bowlers of the Australian cricket team.

The seamer now has shown a different avatar of him. An avatar which wasn’t known to all, has now surfaced. Mitchell Starc has shown the world that he has a good sense of humour as he left everyone in splits in one of the videos released by the social media handles of cricket.com.au.

But before we jump into the video, here’s a little context. Since the World Test Championship (WTC) has started, players have worn jerseys displaying their names and numbers behind it.

Notably, earlier this wasn’t the case. Test jerseys didn’t have numbers or names as it was considered as the purest format of the game. But as the competitive nature of Tests have increased significantly post the introduction of the WTC, the jerseys have undergone a massive transformation.

On Day 2 of the 2nd Test between Australia and West Indies, Ozzie all-rounder, Mitchell Marsh, was spotted wearing a jersey without his name and number. This instantly grabbed the attention of everyone and people had mixed reactions to it.

When Mitchell Starc was asked by the broadcasters as to why Marsh wore this unique jersey, Starc gave a hilarious reply.

“I think he left it in the washing machine,” said Mitchell Starc and left everyone in splits.

Mitchell Starc was bought for a whopping amount of Rs. 24.75 crores for IPL 2024

The Ozzie seamer was grabbing headlines last month after he was bought for a mind-boggling amount of Rs. 24.75 crores by Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 mini-auction, which took place in Dubai.

There was a massive bidding war between Gujarat Titans (GT) and Kolkata and the latter eventually secured the services of the star pacer. Notably, Mitchell Starc was part of the Australian side that lifted the ICC ODI World Cup 2023.

This was Australia’s 6th ICC ODI World Cup title and they are the most consistent side in the world. Australia had also lifted the World Test Championship (WTC) title in 2023 after beating India in the finals.
