According to a new rumor, India’s cybersecurity section has purportedly requested that Battlegrounds Mobile India (BGMI) be delisted. This might result in the game being banned in India.
The well-known game was first outlawed in June 2021, but since then, it has been in hot water. As of the time of writing this article, BGMI is not being formally prohibited; the game was unbanned in May 2023.
News 18 said that the cybersecurity branch of the Union government had “recommended the app be discontinued.” A top agency official claims that the authorities have been notified by a number of actions connected to the game.
BGMI Ban
According to reports, the game’s data collecting practices are especially concerning since they may jeopardize national security and open the door to cyberattacks.
Despite the fact that the game’s servers are located in the US, the organization “wants to be sure that there is no movement of data to other servers situated elsewhere.”
It should be mentioned that the original ban on PUBG Mobile was brought about by worries about cyber security, which prompted the development of Battlegrounds Mobile India, a country-specific version of the game. However, due to breaches of data sharing, this title was prohibited in 2021.
The information about the cybersecurity agency’s report should be regarded as a rumor and taken with a grain of salt because it does not originate from official sources connected to Krafton or the union ministry.
As of this writing, BGMI is not facing a ban. But according to the aforementioned article, the cybersecurity organization has suggested that the game be taken off the list due to a number of issues.
The concerns brought up can perhaps mean the end for the well-liked mobile battle royale game.
The likelihood of a second unban may be quite slim given that the game was already banned for cybersecurity-related issues and that several illegal acts have damaged its reputation.
