3 Reasons Why India Can Win The ICC Champions Trophy 2025

Date:

Team India recently won the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 and look like an extremely competitive side with a lot of quality and expertise. After a hiatus of 11 years, India ended their trophy-drought and have laid their hands on an ICC silverware.

The last time the ICC Champions Trophy had happened in 2017 in England, India led by skipper Virat Kohli, can finished as runners-up after their heavy 180-run defeat at the hands of arch-rivals Pakistan in the finals.

Post that, this will be the first-ever Champions Trophy. Pakistan will be hosting it and we still await official confirmation whether India will be travelling to their neighbouring country for the tournament.

In this article, we take a look at 3 reasons why India can win the upcoming ICC Champions Trophy 2025:

1. Confident from the previous silverware

The bulk of the team will remain the same which played the ICC T20 World Cup 2024. Barring a couple of changes, India are likely to have the same bunch of experienced players in the upcoming ICC Champions Trophy 2025.

Now with the monkey off the back, India can play the Champions Trophy with a relaxed and calm mindset. They will be brimming with confidence and can have a great sojourn.

2. New Head Coach

Gautam Gambhir has been appointed as the new Head Coach of Team India after Rahul Dravid’s tenure ended. The former talented batter of India will be the all-format coach of India and we can expect the heralding of a new era.

Gautam Gambhir has had tremendous success as a captain and mentor in the Indian Premier League (IPL) and has led Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) to 2 titles while being captain and 1 title while being the mentor.

3. ICC Champions Trophy will be played in the sub-continent

Even if the Ministry of External Affairs of India does not permit the Indian cricket team to travel to Pakistan, there is a huge possibility of the tournament being played at a neutral venue in the sub-continent.

Just like India’s matches in the Asia Cup 2023 were played in Sri Lanka, an alternate venue in a neutral country could be proposed. India has a solid bunch of spinners who are accustomed to the spin-friendly and sluggish conditions of the sub-continent. Indian batters are great players of spin as well.
