Date:

India Champions lifted the World Championship of Legends (WCL) 2024 title after beating Pakistan Champions in the finals on 13th July 2024 at Edgbaston in Birmingham. Yuvraj Singh and co. defeated their arch-rivals Pakistan and brought in a lot of joy and happiness to the lives of Indians.

Pakistan Champions, who were consistent right throughout the tournament, faltered at the big-stage and failed to soak up the pressure of a final. India’s bowlers were right on the money and restricted Pakistan to 156 runs.

Shoaib Malik, who was brimming with class and consistency right throughout the tournament, top-scorer for the Men in Green with a 41-run knock in 36 balls.

There were able contributions from Kamran Akmal and Sohaib Maqsood, who scored 24 and 21 runs respectively, but none that hogged the limelight.

With the white-cherry, Anureet Singh, played well and bagged 3 wickets. Pawan Negi, R Vinay Kumar and Irfan Pathan took 1 wicket each and helped India come to the driver’s seat in the 1st innings.

In response, Ambati Rayudu and Robin Uthappa started well and put on a 34-run partnership before the latter perished away. Soon, Suresh Raina followed suit and India were in a spot of bother.

But Ambati Rayudu had his best game reserved for the finals as he scored 50 runs in 30 balls and held fort from one end. Rayudu deservedly bagged the player of the match award in this game.

Gurkeerat Singh Mann too performed well as he scored 34 runs in 33 balls and his innings was packed with 2 fours and 1 six.

Yusuf Pathan played a good knock and mustered 30 runs as India Champions lifted the title, despite having a mediocre tournament in the league stage.

Notably, India Champions had qualified by the barest of margins as they edged past South Africa Champions because of their run-rate.
