IPL 2025 Unsold Players

The IPL 2025 mega auction promises to be a thrilling event, but for some experienced players, the reality of going unsold is expected to be high.

Some reports indicate that several high-profile players may go unsold during IPL 2025 mega auction.

With franchises looking to optimize their squads and budgets, some established stars could find themselves without a team come auction day.

Here are three big players who might go unsold during IPL mega auction.

1. Shikhar Dhawan

Once a mainstay in the Indian batting lineup, Shikhar Dhawan has seen a decline in form in recent seasons.

Despite his experience and past performances, his age and recent inconsistencies could deter franchises from bidding.

Dhawan’s last season with the Punjab Kings was underwhelming, leading to questions about his future in the IPL. If he fails to regain his form before IPL auction, he might not attract the interest he once did.

2. Steve Smith

Australian batting legend Steve Smith is another player who could go unsold in the upcoming auction.

After a lackluster stint with the Delhi Capitals, where he struggled to find his rhythm, Smith’s IPL stock has fallen.

His high base price may further complicate matters, especially if franchises are looking to invest in younger talent or players with better recent performances.

If he does not impress in the lead-up to the auction, teams may choose to pass on him.

3. Ajinkya Rahane

Ajinkya Rahane, known for his solid technique and calm demeanor, has also faced challenges in recent seasons.

After a disappointing run with the Chennai Super Kings, where he struggled to secure a regular spot in the playing XI, his IPL future appears uncertain.

With younger players emerging and teams focusing on dynamic batting options, Rahane’s traditional style may not resonate with franchises looking to modernize their squads.

If he does not impress in the lead-up to the IPL auction, he surely going to be unsold during the mega auction and there are chances he might not return.
