Sarabjot Singh Government Job

In a surprising move, 22-year-old Indian shooter and Olympic bronze medallist Sarabjot Singh has turned down a prestigious job offer from the Haryana government.

Sarabjot, who was offered the position of Deputy Director in the Sports Department, has chosen to prioritize his shooting career instead.

Reason for Rejecting the Offer

When asked about his decision, Sarabjot stated, “The job is good, but I will not take it right now. I want to focus on my shooting first.”

He acknowledged the pressure from his family to secure a stable job but emphasized his commitment to his sport. “My family has also been asking me to get a decent job, but I want to pursue shooting. I don’t want to go against the decisions that I have made, so I cannot take a job right now,” he added.

Sarabjot’s Olympic Success

Sarabjot’s decision comes on the heels of his success at the Paris Olympics 2024, where he won a bronze medal in the 10m air pistol mixed team event alongside Manu Bhaker.

The duo defeated the South Korean pair of Oh Ye Jin and Lee Wonho 16-10 in the bronze medal match, making history as India’s first-ever Olympic medal in a shooting team event.

Homecoming and Celebrations

Upon returning to his hometown of Dheen village in Ambala district, Haryana, Sarabjot was given a hero’s welcome.

Family, friends, and villagers gathered to celebrate his achievement, greeting him with drumbeats, flower garlands, and the burst of crackers.

The celebration was a heartfelt acknowledgment of Sarabjot’s hard work and dedication.

Future Goals and Aspirations

Despite his success in Paris, Sarabjot is not satisfied with his performance and has set his sights on even greater achievements.

In an exclusive interview, he expressed his desire to win gold at the LA Olympics in 2028. “I am yet to achieve my main goal. Hopefully I will complete my main goal in 2028. I used to write in my personal diary that I will give my personal best in Paris. However, I am yet to give my personal best. I want to shoot for gold in 2028,” Sarabjot said.
